It's not a motivational book about getting rich. There are hundreds of those already, and honestly, some of them are good.
From: Patric Chan
Most Money Books Are Written To Motivate You. This One Is Written To Stop You From Losing It – And Make More After That.
The money lessons I wish someone handed me at 25. No motivation. No get-rich formula. Just what worked, and what cost me real money to learn.

In 2019, I watched a video of Logan Paul interviewing a 15-year-old kid named Jack Doherty.
The kid had already bought his own house. Making six figures from YouTube. Maybe close to a million.
That wasn't the part that got me.
What got me was that he understood money. At fifteen. He knew how to invest it, not just earn it.
And I thought about all the young actors and athletes who made far more than him and ended up broke by thirty-five.
Then I thought about my own kids.
Marin was 15. Marireis was 13. Reeve was 9 when I wrote this.
What if I could teach them about money while they're still in school? What if they had a stable income stream before they even finished college?
Because then, when they start working, they get to pick a job they actually want instead of picking one based on the salary.
That's why I wrote MONEY: Present And Future.
It was a selfish reason. Really.
But once it was done, I looked at it and thought: if I'm confident this can change my children's lives, including mine if I get these advice when I’m in my 20’s, why would I keep it from everyone else?
Let me tell you what this book is not.
It's not a financial planning book either. I'm not a financial planner and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
I'm also not an investment guru. I do mention stocks and crypto in here, but only from the angle of what I personally do and why.
You don't need to follow my advice. I don't claim to be correct.
What I can tell you is this: the playbook in this book is right for me. It got me debt-free. It's based on my actual experience with money, including the mistakes, not on what I read in other people's books.
And if I had known all of it earlier, I would have hit what I've achieved today in my 30s instead of my 40s.
That's ten years of freedom I traded away for lessons I could have read in an afternoon.
The first time my cheque bounced, I thought the bank made a mistake.
So everything I learned about success, I learned from seminars, workshops and personal development programs. In my twenties I was the guy sitting in those rooms taking notes while everyone else was getting a degree.
And it worked on me. Genuinely. Those rooms changed how I thought about what was possible for someone like me.
I believed in that kind of education so much that I decided to build a business around it.
The model was simple. Partner with a good speaker, promote him, sell seats. We ran training for the public and for companies. I was selling the exact thing that had changed my own life, which made it easy to sell.
So, I was in my twenties. First company.
Twenty-five seats for attending the speaker’s training at 2K each. That's 50K. Simple math.
Then the bank manager called me."Mr. Chan, your cheque bounced."
I wasn't splurging. I was paying vendors and salaries like a business is supposed to. I just wasn't watching the one number that mattered.
That company died. That's how I ended up in internet marketing in the early 2000s.
The cardinal rule sounds so obvious that it's almost embarrassing to write down: if you earn 1K, don't spend 1K.
Most people break it without realising they're breaking it.
Here's some of what's inside this 134-page book:
The 3 Buckets of money allocation, and the exact percentage range I keep in each one (this is the entire structure of how I manage money today)
Why I don't buy the "good debt vs bad debt" argument at all, and what I think Kiyosaki hasn't shown us about his own numbers
How I lost all my Bitcoins. Twice. It had nothing to do with forgetting my key phrase
The Pay Later trap, and why I think it's more dangerous than a credit card for getting you into debt
Why I still buy a $5 coffee every single day even though the compound-interest math says I'm throwing away $125,000
The model I use to hold crypto with the risk on the table
Why I will never get into trading, and the emotional reason it wipes people out even when they're winning
The story of Ben the baker, and the one question to ask any time a stranger offers you an opportunity
What I spend money on with no expectation of financial return, and why I don't regret a single one of those expenses
The reason I disagree with Dave Ramsey on frugality, even though I respect what he's done for people in debt
Why it's $9.95
I could have priced this higher. Books in this category regularly sell for more.
But this one is different for me. I wrote it for three specific people who happen to live in my house, and every extra person who reads it is a bonus, not the business model.
So $9.95.
I'd rather have it in ten thousand hands than make an extra few dollars from a thousand.
But because I don’t want to do any work with logistic and fulfilment of shipping out books, I’ll make it digitally available for only $3.99 today. And if you can buy it at Amazon Kindle, it’s only $0.99.
If you want your money back, just ask.
I'll be straight with you, the way I've always handled my books.
If you read it and feel it wasn't worth what you paid, email us and ask. I'll honour it. No forms, no questions.
All I'd appreciate in return is your honest feedback so I can make the next one better. Even if the feedback is harsh.
One last thing.
If you're 70, this book probably won't change much for you. And honestly, at that age money shouldn't be top of your list anyway. Health, family and happiness should be top.
But if you're anywhere before that, you still have time to build a life where money stops being a burden.
Not a life where you're rich and miserable, counting every dollar. I've acquired a weekend home, driven the cars, visited countless of cities and a long list of countries for holiday. I don't regret any of that spending.
Money is a tool to get what you want in life. It shouldn't be the yardstick you measure yourself with.
That's the whole point of the book.
Also, this book is purposely written to be relatively short, just 134 pages, so that you can turn the knowledge into practical action steps right after reading. It's written as a playbook, not as an entertainment book or a "how to be rich" motivational book. Definitely not as an informative book.
[GET YOUR COPY OF MONEY: PRESENT AND FUTURE FOR $3.99]P.S. The title is "Present and Future" for a reason. Most books skip straight to the future and try to inspire you into being rich. But you can't build a future while your present is leaking money through traps you can't even see. The first half of this book fixes the present. The second half builds the future. In that order, because the other way around doesn't work.
P.P.S. If you want your money back, just ask and I'll honour it. So the only real cost of trying this is four minutes of reading to find out I was wrong.
